Copyright protects original works from being stolen or used without permission. It protects the hard work of various authors, songwriters, etc. Fair use is something that legally promotes freedom of works that are not copyrighted works in certain circumstances. As a teacher I would deal with these topics very carefully, and ensure that my students understand the severity of using something that is copyrighted. I would develop my instruction materials by taking inspiration from works but paraphrasing them and making sure that I am not breaking any copyright laws. I would do the same with my students creating their own works.
There are several technology implementation issues. The two that I would like to touch on are cyberbullying and academic dishonesty. In my classroom cyberbullying of any kind would not be tolerated. Every time a student is on the computer or on any other form of electronic at school I will walk around and make sure that anything commented or written is appropriate. If I see anything mean I will take the electronic away and make the parents aware. This is a very serious matter that will not be taken lightly once I'm a teacher. The next thing I want to touch on is academic honesty. This can be a tricky one but I think that the way to regulate this is through the use of honor lock. All of my tests would be taken with the honor lock function, and all of the assignments completed would be checked for plagiarism.
I acquired several new skills from the Newsletter design assignment. I learned how to use the column function as well as adding graphics in specific positions while the columns are in place. In the future I would like to add borders around the different sections of my newsletter. These skills can definitely be used in my career as a teacher. I can use my new found knowledge of word to make various presentations, newsletters, and announcements.
