Blog Journal #5

     I have really not had a lot of twitter experience prior to this class. I had to create a twitter account when I held a position in my theatre magnet in High School but that was about it. I would interact with other classmates and teachers. I have found twitter very beneficial because I have been able to find people who share the same passion for teaching as I do. Twitter could be helpful in my future career because if I have a question about a lesson I could consult some of my colleagues via the app. 

    The digital divide affects student success in schools greatly. For instance, if there is an online assignment for a class but a student does not have access to the internet the student is set up to fail. Some of the causes of the digital divide are poverty and lack of funding in underprivileged schools. I might experience the digital divide as a teacher if a student does not have the funds to pay for an electronic device but I will make sure that does not stunt their learning. I will always have a paper option available so the student can complete their work. 

    Two software tools that I would like to implement in my classroom are zoom and google drive. Google drive was really easy for me to use as a student as it saves automatically and the documents are easy to find. I would like to use zoom because zoom is a great way for students to not miss out on material when they have to be absent from class. Google drive would be used to complete and store various assignments and activities and zoom would be used to attend class virtually.

          I learned a lot of new skills though working on the website assignment. I learned how to link a page to another page, add videos, and add hyperlinks. I also learned how to make a website in general, I had done it once before but I was not good at it at all. I liked the creativity of the assignment and that I was able to use wix instead of weekly because I was much more comfortable with wix. What I did not like was the time commitment, I spent several hours on it in hopes of receiving a high pass.       Hi! My name is Samantha Cohen. I am a freshman here at Florida State University.  My major is Special Education. I have a twin sister who is majoring in pre-optometry at the University of Alabama. I also have a younger brother who is a senior in high school. My mom is a school social worker, and my dad is a civil engineer. I have a dog who is half Chihuahua and half Dachshund. Her name is Maggie. I like to sing, hang out with friends, and watch Disney Pixar movies. I don't have many prior experiences using technology in an education setting besides what I did in my EDF 1005 class, which is introduction to education, in the fall semester. Blog Journal #10

      I learned several skills from assignment number five. I learned how to hyperlink powerpoint slides to other slides. I also learned how to turn off the manual forward and back buttons to my slides and add my own buttons. I liked that I had full creativity on the assignment. I could make my choose your own adventure story be whatever I wanted it to be. What I didn't like was that the assignment was due right after spring break. I know that we have a lot of things that we need to do in a short period of time, but I did not want to work over spring break so I had a lot to do in just a few short days.      I will use data collection and survey tools a lot as a teacher for elementary aged kids with special needs.
